I bought this lamp for my bell tent, which has a center pole. It did exactly what I wanted it to do: provide light to my whole tent instead of depending on a lantern or flashlight. Since I'm not savvy on these things I paid extra for the batteries thinking the USB charges them in the device. NOPE. The USB is just for powering the light from an ac source (which is pointless for what I use it for).
